Cumbernauld burglaries probed by police

POLICE are investigating two near-identical burglaries and car thefts that took place in Cumbernauld on the same night.

Both incidents occurred between midnight and dawn on Friday, June 17.

One was in Roadside, Cumbernauld Village where a house was broken into with a mobile phone, Fujitsu laptop and a camera were stolen, along with a V-registered Renault Laguna hatchback.

The other break-in was at a house in Southerness Drive in Carrickstone, just across the A80 from the other burglary. On this occasion a 52-plate Vauxhall Zafira was taken along with a 40” TV, Xbox 360 console and two laptops.

Both vehicles stolen in these incidents were recvovered in the Greenfaulds area on Monday, although the other items stolen are still missing.
