Cumbernauld charity helps Haiti appeal

A CHARITY walk has raised thousands of pounds to help people in the struggling country of Haiti.

Local mental health charity Now You’re Talking showed its support for the Take Heart For Haiti appeal, which seeks to build a hospital on the island of La Gonâve - and local fundraisers are trying to raise $250,000 US to build a wing of that hospital, which will be called the Cumbernauld Wing.

The Big Red Charity Walk was organised by Now You’re Walking, a subgroup of Now You’re Talking, and took place on July 16. Walkers were encouraged to wear red and the route went around Cumbernauld House Park. More than £2000 was raised by this event alone.

Now You’re Talking is based at The New Life Support Centre in Seafar House. For more information about their work, call 01236 730050 or visit www.nowyertalkin.org.uk.
