Cumbernauld College students are in the pink

KIND-HEARTED college students brought a splash of pink to their campus by holding a fundraiser for a breast cancer charity.

Cumbernauld College hosted a series of ‘pink parties’ for Breast Cancer Care last month with NC Health Care and NQ Health and Social Care students raising £269.62 in the process.

Students donned their pink clothes for the day at the parties, and the dining area of the building was transformed into a pink wonderland.

The students also hosted raffles, lucky dips and games during the fun events.

The catering students, from the New College Learning Programme, supported the cause by baking 100 pinks cupcakes which were on sale during the parties.

Jan O’Hara from Kildrum is on the NQ Health and Social Care student at Cumbernauld College.

She said: “Everyone was really keen to raise money for Breast Cancer Care and the pink parties sounded like great fun.

“We all really enjoyed planning and organising the events and the feedback from all the students was really positive. Being able to raise almost £270 is such an achievement and it’s going to such a great cause.”

College lecturer Jackie Hunter, added: “The pink parties were a great success and the students are thrilled at the amount of money they were able to raise.

“Everyone at the college really got into the spirit of the occasions and the students are already talking about next year’s event and how we can make it bigger and better.”
