CUMBERNAULD has one less Scottish Nationalist councillor - after the long-awaited results of a disciplinary procedure were announced last week.

CUMBERNAULD has one less Scottish Nationalist councillor - after the long-awaited results of a disciplinary procedure were announced last week.

Councillor Alan O’Brien, who represents Cumbernauld North, learned last Thursday that he was barred from representing the party at North Lanarkshire Council.

He has also received a written warning about his conduct at Motherwell Civic Centre

This week he said: “I feel this has happened because I stood up for Cumbernauld.”

But the SNP group leader said: “He could have ended all this with a simple apology.”
