‘Cumbernauld creation’ Clyde is a cuddly toy

A mascot created by a Cumbernauld schoolgirl for the 2014 Commonwealth Games is to be made into a cuddly toy.

Clyde was created by Beth Gilmour, from Craigmarloch, who recently received the first version of the soft toy.

The toy will be on sale in two sizes and a third, bigger version of Clyde is expected to be sold next year,

Glasgow 2014 chief executive Ty Speer said: “Clyde has been very warmly received across the length and breadth of Scotland and has certainly brought his cheeky personality to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

“The launch of our Cuddly Clyde soft toys has been much anticipated and is a great opportunity for people to show their support for the Games.”

Beth added: “Seeing Clyde brought to life always makes me smile and I think the soft toys are absolutely adorable. It’s great that I now have a real reminder of Clyde to keep at home and see every day. He’s so cheeky and I hope lots of people will now be able to enjoy having their very own Clyde too.”
