Cumbernauld firm shows credit crunch who is boss

A CUMBERNAULD based business has shown the credit crunch who is boss – after being forced to relocate when their Blairlinn-based premises could not keep up with demand.

CMS Enviro Systems which is one of Scotland’s largest independent window manufactors has moved its 150 staff (pictured) to a brand new 15 acre site beside the M80 at Castlecary.

The firm, which secured an impressive £8 million worth of orders in the last six months simply outgrew its previous headquarters.

Its new operation is home to the company’s PVCu and aluminium manufacturing, recycling and administrative functions.

The relocation was meticulously planned over several months to ensure continued manufacturing with no disruption to existing contracts.

Staff have undertaken full re-fits of schools, high rises and businesses in a client base that extends to housing associations, utility companies and home owners.

The firm is a good example of a ‘green’ business as it recycles all the material that it is effectively replacing - in a move that satisfies strict Scottish Government targets on waste.

Managing director Andrew Kerr said: “As levels of manufacturing and recycling were surpassing all of our expectations and growth projections, we acknowledged that we had to invest in larger premises to accommodate our expanding order book.

“And the location was strategically chosen to best serve our existing contracts next to one of Scotland’s main motorways,” he added.
