Cumbernauld nursery makes it four-in-a-row

YOUNGSTERS at Kildrum nursery have proved that when it comes to being eco friendly they are different class.

Children at the nursery have been honoured by community initiative Supercounty to mark their efforts in achieving their fourth Green Flag from Eco-Schools Scotland.

Campaign co-ordinator Karen Lambie said: "Everyone has worked very hard in their re-cycling efforts to reduce waste, energy and water use, and deserve great credit in taking on the ambitious green-house project.

"We recognise that to become one of only 19 nurseries from the 411 schools and nurseries across Lanarkshire working towards Eco-status to attain this Permanent Four Green Flag Eco-Status is a wonderful achievement."

The nursery, which has various green initiatives on the go including recycling goods from pupils' homes and composting, was presented with a cheque for 150 from Supercounty for their hard work.

The nursery is also working on a project to create a greenhouse out of used two-litre plastic bottles.
