Cumbernauld schoolgirl is a princess for the day with her sisters

When you're going to be belle of the ball, you need to get some practise in.

And Alisha Whyteside has certainly had an insight into the lifestyle of a Disney Princess, a month before a special fundraising event is held in her honour.

Little Alisha (8) from Ravenswood has finished her treatment for cancer and her family is organising Alisha’s Ball at the Westerwood Hotel on September 10.

Alisha was hailed at an awards ceremony by Scottish Power in 2014 and the company has kept in touch.

They provided Alisha and her sisters Leah (11) Lucy (10) and Olivia (5) with a magical day out in Glasgow, to prepare for the ball.

It involved a limo ride, the gift of gowns in Frasers in a bespoke personal shopping experience and a family feast in Pizza Express.

Alisha said: “I love watching Disney movies with my sisters and last week, we became real life Disney Princesses.

“I can’t wait to get dressed up again for the ball!”

Pamela Rodgers, Fundraising Manager for the Cancer Research UK Project Team at ScottishPower, said: “We first met with Alisha when she was undergoing cancer treatment. Everyone in our team was inspired by her positivity, resolve and her beautiful smile.

“We were over the moon to hear Alisha was finishing her treatment and when we heard that she was dedicating herself to helping others, we thought she deserved a treat fit for a princess.”

Meanwhile auction prizes are still required for the event.

Anyone who is asked to help is asked to contact Alisha’s dad, Mark Whyteside, on [email protected].

Proceeds will be donated to CLIC Sargent, Yorkhill Hospital, Bloodwise and Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation.
