Cumbernauld teachers bid school a fond farewell

EASTFIELD Primary has given three longstanding members of staff an emotional send off - clerical worker Margaret Logie plus teachers Marie Sinclair and Marie Connelly.

Mrs Logie said: “I’ve been in the building since the cement was wet so it was an emotional day. I will really miss the children but sometimes you have to make the decision to leave. As far as retirement is concerned I am going to take one day at a time and just enjoy it,” she said.

Mrs Sinclair has also retired after 21 years at the school. The Craigmarloch resident said: “I had mixed emotions on the day. I am very grateful for all the gifts I received and I got a total of 62 cards which I’ve never had in my life before.’’

Mrs Sinclair has a very particular plan for her retirement - a trip to Australia to see her daughter’s family.

Mr Connolly taught at Eastfield for 23 years. The Whitelees resident said: ‘‘I had great friends great kids and a great boss but it was time. I now want to do some courses.’’
