Cumbernauld woman speaks out over dog attack

THE owner of a Jack Russell who was attacked by another dog during a walk in Croy has issued a plea to help find those responsible.

Norma Giannotti (57), of Cumbernauld, hopes members of the public will help track down the owners of the dog who attacked her Jack Russell, Tara, before it is too late.

She is worried another animal could be subject to a similar attack – or worse a child.

The News and Chronicle reported last week that Norma took six-year-old Tara for a walk along Constarry Road at around 12.30pm on Friday, October 5.

She was accompanied by her friend Elaine McLaughlin and her Labrador dog Max, and the pair noticed there were three dogs - which Norma believes looked a lot like Ridgebacks or Hungarian Vizslas - in the area at the time.

She explained: “We first noticed the couple with the dogs on the Thursday and then we went back up for a walk on the Friday, and we spotted them again.

“The woman was shouting on the only dog who was not on a lead either saying Tia or Kia but I can’t be sure that was the name.

“Out of nowhere, the dog then came flying towards mine and she was on top of her. All I could hear was she was munching away at my dog.

“Tara gave a squeal when the dog bit her and the dog jumped up and went back to the owner.”
