Cumbernauld’s Deone is headed for Florida

A Cumbernauld beauty queen with several crowns to her credit is heading across the Atlantic to represent Scotland in an international pageant.

Gorgeous Deone Robertson has already captivated our own continent after being named Miss European at a contest in Portugal.

And now it’s America’s turn as the hardworking professional dancer and charity fundraiser jets off to Orlando, in the Miss Galaxy International contest.

Hosted at the exclusive Caribe Royale Resort, this takes place on Saturday, August 9.

Deone who comes from Cumbernauld Village and is a former pupil of Cumbernauld High School hasn;t visited the Sunshine State before but will be travelling out a few days beforehand to explore.

She said: “ I’m very excited of course but also very nervous.

“ Everyone I will be competing against have already won their county title. So it really is the best of the best!

“I just think it is going to be a great experience and I’m thrilled that I get to be part of it and represent Scotland,’’ she added.
