Cumbernauld’s Greenfaulds High School celebrates 40th anniversary

GREENFAULDS High School celebrated their 40th anniversary in style last week with a massive birthday bash.

Pupils past and present joined with their families, members of the local community and staff from the school, in a day full of entertainment and attractions to celebrate the school’s big 4-0.

Principal teacher of Business Studies at the School, Mrs Suzanne Beattie, was blown away by the support for the school on the day.

Mrs Beattie said: “Saturday went well and throughout the day there was a real community feel to the event and it was so nice to see support from such a wide variety of local residents, young and old.

“It was not the nicest of days but the rain stayed away for the most part.

“Bouncy castles, sumo suits, and the bungee run were a big hit and it helped that there was no charge for the youngsters.

“I want to say a big thank you to all the staff who contributed to making it such a success and to everyone who came along to help us celebrate 40 years of Greenfaulds.”

The event saw guests entertained by firefighters from Greenfaulds Fire Station, The Birds of Prey team from Luggiebank, Scouts, who provided well received barbecued nourishment, art teachers face painting for younger guests, school show extracts, the school bands and dancers, pipers and the compere for the day, Biology and Physics PT Mr Haughney.

The school even had its own celebrity status as former Apprentice contestant, Debra Barr, also attended. the festivities.
