David (50) was one of 89 workers from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks who battled rough terrain, steep climbs and snowy ground to climb Ben Nevis in the Trek the Ben fundraising challenge.

David, who works at Clydesdale Bank’s Glasgow Queen Street branch, said: “It was a challenging but fantastic and very rewarding experience. The Bank is supporting us by match funding every penny raised which was great motivation.”

David and his colleagues were delighted at finally crossing the boulder field to the summit cairn, which stands a whopping 1,343m above sea level.

Help the Hospices chief executive David Praill said: “Every step, along the sometimes treacherous terrain, took us closer to our fundraising target.”

Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks have been working with Help the Hospices for seven years, raising £3.5million to date.
