Dee Hepburn draws Kirkmuirhill Inn raffle

Dee (48), who played female football star Dorothy in the classic 1981 Scottish movie, still has fond memories of her time acting in the coming-of-age romantic comedy, written and directed by Bill Forsyth.

''It's nice to see that the film still makes people laugh after almost 30 years.''

East Kilbride-born Dee's first major acting role saw her impress as Maggie in the BBC's 1978 production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

Her television performances include starring in Glasgow-based series Maggie, landing a presenting turn on It's a Knockout and playing Anne-Marie Wade on Crossroads from 1985-88.

She now works as a business development manager for East Kilbride pharmaceutical company Hill-Rom Ltd.

However, Dee was delighted to support the Kirkmuirhill Inn's Grand Race Day.

Pub regulars, who gathered to watch the Cheltenham Gold Cup Festival, raised 800 for St Andrew's Hospice.

Dee was persuaded to go along by pub regular John Dickson.

He said: ''I know Dee through work and I'm delighted to see her here for our 10th annual fundraiser for good causes.

''It's the first time we've had a celebrity at our fundraisers.''
