Gladman’s proposal was met with overwhelming objection from local residents. When surveyed by Jim and Ken last year, 100 per cent of Waterfoot residents objected to the proposal with 98 per cent of respondents listing Gladman’s intention to build on land zoned as greenbelt as one of their top concerns.
It is understood that the planning reporter had recommended that East Renfrewshire Council reject this proposal, with Gladman opting to withdraw the application before it was considered by the council’s planners.

Jim said: “I am delighted to hear that the views of the community have been heard loud and clear.
“This just goes to show the power of community action.”
Ken added: “There is little doubt that the overwhelming condemnation of this proposal from the people of Waterfoot contributed to Gladman’s decision to withdraw.”
