'Dirty' diesel fuels row

A CONTROVERSY involving claims that a Cumbernauld super-market sold contamin-ated diesel shows no sign of abating - even though the store was dramatically cleared in an enquiry by trading standards officers.

Cumbernauld man Ian Reid is among a number of drivers, including one of the store's own employees, who claim that diesel bought in Asda's filling station caused a four figure sum worth of damage to their cars.

Some of those affected claim that staff at the Cumbernauld branch afforded them little assistance, despite the scale of damage allegedly caused by a product from the store.

It has also been pointed out that routine cleaning of the pumps might have led to trading standards taking a cleaner sample.
