Don't fall victim to sneak in thefts

The police are urging people to be extra vigilant after a spate of opportunist thefts in Milngavie and Bearsden.

There was an attempt to steal from a car after the lock was broken on Kinglass Road, Bearsden, between 7pm on Saturday, July 16 and 5am the following day.

There were another two attempts to steal from cars which were parked on Thorn Grove, Bearsden.

One attempt was some time between 11pm on Saturday, July 17 and 8.45am the following day and the other attempt was made sometime between 4pm on Saturday, July 17 and 7.35am the following day.

Meanwhile a car was stolen from the driveway of a home on Balfleurs Street in Milngavie sometime between 11pm on Saturday, July 17 and 6.45am the following day.

The police issued a letter of safety advice to residents following these recent incidents.

Inspector Mark Henderson from Kirkintilloch Police Office, said: “We want to reassure people that the area is receiving significant directed patrols by uniformed and plain clothes officers.

“We have officers dedicated to resolving any reported matters and will use all means possible to prevent further incidents and to detect and arrest offenders.

“Always remember your personal safety. Do not confront any suspects.

“We’d advice people to adopt a nightly routine - check windows and doors are locked and when you pop out - even if it’s just for a few minutes.”
