East Renfrewshire provost Alastair Carmichael, environment convener Vincent Waters and writer, broadcaster and wilderness walker Cameron McNeish took to the podium to talk about their connections with the park to mark the pavilion’s makeover — funded by the recent Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

Councillor Waters explained: “East Renfrewshire council was awarded a grant of over £2 million through the Parks for People programme, with the council committing £1m.

“This stunning, newly refurbished pavilion is the first of a plan of works to be completed, and is a real milestone.”

A photography exhibition has been commissioned to showcase the new and improved pavilion, with new archive shots highlighting the best features of Rouken Glen — voted the third best in Scotland in a people’s choice vote, as reported last week.
