“I’ve met so many fascinating and impressive people, both within the UK and beyond. Many deliver a high quality of service under the most difficult of circumstances, and yet never let their standards drop.
“Having the opportunity to visit far flung parts of the globe has been another highlight. In particular, my visits to the Indian sub-continent have been memorable.

A major part of Dr Dunn’s duties during his time as president involved activities within the Royal College building in St Vincent Street, in Glasgow.
He said: The Royal College has exceptionally dedicated and talented staff and Members and Fellows. Achievements in education and in promoting healthy living to the wider world are largely due to their support.

He added: “Of course I will miss the challenges and especially the people, however, I am most grateful for a memorable and exhilarating three years.”
Dr Dunn was awarded the Freedom of Kirkintilloch in 2012 and received a CBE in 2014. The Royal College’s new president is Professor David Galloway. Professor Galloway was a consultant surgeon with a particular interest in colorectal surgery and surgical oncology.
