Hannah Boyce, from Milton of Campsie, is the shining star of smash-hit 60s-set stage show ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’, which is currently touring the UK.

The former Kirkintilloch Player is the leading lady and is earning rave reviews for her acting and singing skills.

Remarkably it is Hannah’s first professional role, having recently graduated from Guildford School of Acting with a first-class honours degree.

She recently returned to her home village – where she attended Craighead Primary – when the tour stopped off at The King’s Theatre, Glasgow.

Hannah (21) said: “I auditioned for Dreamboats while I was still in college.

“Growing up I was into a few things and theatre was always just a hobby, really.

“I never thought about it as being a real job! I still can’t quite believe this is my career to be honest. I’m very lucky.”

Hannah (pictured, centre) has been enjoying the Dreamboats tour, which runs until the start of December.

She said: “It’s been going great. We’re almost an entirely new cast so it was scary at first trying to live up to the people who have played the parts before us.

“There are a lot of loyal fans of ‘Dreamboats’ who come to see it every time it tours near them and we’ve had some lovely feedback from them, so that’s reassuring. That’s why we do it, after all.

“Touring is great too. A new home every week and seeing places in the UK that you would never normally go to.

“We had 12 days rehearsal to put this production on and that was pretty intense.

“I’m very lucky that this cast is a group of really supportive people.

“I feel very lucky that I’m working in a career that I love. Where else do you get a round of applause at the end of the day for doing your job!”

The former Kilsyth Academy pupil has high hopes for the future and is aiming to keep busy.

She said: “To be working within this industry in any way would be amazing. I would love to have a job in the West End at some point. That’s a big ambition of mine.

“I would also love to originate a role in a new musical – that would be really special.”

It’s all a far cry from her early days as part of the Kirkintilloch Players, doing pantomimes, musicals and SCDA festival plays.

After that Hannah started at UK Theatre School.

She said: “I thoroughly recommend it to anyone starting out. It helped me so much and I met some amazing friends there too.”
