Driver allegedly crashes into Cumbernauld roadworks leaving car at the scene

Police discovered the car within the roadworks on the A8011 Wilderness Brae at around 5pm on Wednesday, August 22.

The driver left the scene and the owner of the damaged car was later traced.

Police say the they are still investigating who was driving the car but a 38-year-old woman has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for alleged traffic offences.

North Lanarkshire Council began planned roadworks on Monday, August 20, which will incorporate a number of additional safety measures following a horrific three car smash which claimed three lives on August 1.

The road will also be resurfaced and an advisory speed limit of 30mph is in operation in the area.
