Drivers targeted in Operation Fleet

IN the space of just eight hours in two Clydesdale locations on Friday, no fewer than 152 vehicles were stopped by police as part of Operation Fleet.

Police road blocks at Scott’s Nursery in Braidwood and Harelaw Roundabout in Lanark dealt with drivers pulled over for suspected offences including speeding, mobile phone usage and tyre defects.

Clydesdale Chief Inspector Colin Murphy told the Gazette: “My main reason for doing this is that road safety is my single biggest policing concern in Clydesdale.”
