Early Christmas present for Kirkintilloch businesses and shoppers

Southbank Road is now open again to traffic after being closed in June as part of works to create housing on its west side - between the Kirkintilloch Campus and Townhead.

It is part of East Dunbartonshire Council’s commitment to ensure there are no scheduled roadworks taking place in Kirkintilloch during the month of December - a vital time of year for local shopkeepers.

Grace Irvine, the council’s director of neighbourhood services, said: “We’re delighted to confirm that Southbank Road is now open again for traffic.”

Meanwhile, works taking place on the B757 Kirkintilloch Road, Lenzie, finished more than a week early - the council was due to complete work on December 1, but actually finished on November 22.
