East Ren business awards are back

COMPANIES across East Renfrewshire will battle it out in June for a chance to win at the second annual chamber of commerce business awards.

The event takes place on Thursday, June 6, at the Dalmeny Park country house hotel, and is hosted by writer and BBC broadcaster Sally Magnusson.

The aim of the game is to allow networking opportunities for local companies, and to give firms the chance to gain recognition for their achievements, both personal and beneficial to the wider community.

Nominations are open until Friday, April 19, for seven categories, including outstanding performing business, retailer of the year (under 10 employees), retailer of the year (over 10 employees), most promising new business, tourism award, family business of the year and the home worker award.

John Hamilton, president of the East Renfrewshire chamber of commerce, commented: “The business awards are a great opportunity for local businesses to demonstrate excellence and gain widespread recognition for their achievements.

“We have many exceptional companies in East Renfrewshire who deserve to be recognised.”

The awards are in partnership with East Renfrewshire council initiative A Place to Grow – promoting the area as a great place to live, work and socialise in – and its convener, councillor Tony Buchanan, added: “The event will also showcase outstanding examples of how the business community is driving forward the local economy.”

Event sponsors include Business Gateway, for the most promising new business award, and The Avenue shopping centre, principal sponsor of the awards ceremony.

Centre manager Michelle McCabe said: “The Avenue has a long and proud tradition of playing an active role in the local business community and, as such, is delighted once again to be principal sponsor of the business awards, as well as sponsoring the retail of the year award for companies with less than 10 employees.”

Any business owner who wishes to nominate their company can download an application form from the chamber of commerce website, www.eastrenchamber.org.uk, or email [email protected] for more information.
