East Renfrewshire Business Awards shortlist announced

Applications have been submitted, scores have been counted and the shortlisted companies now have to wait until an award ceremony next month to find out who wins.

East Renfrewshire chamber of commerce president John Hamilton said: “The quality of the entrants was extremely high and shortlisted nominees reflect the sheer breadth of business success throughout East Ren - from small start-ups and individual entrepreneurs to long-established businesses.”

In the outstanding performing business category, the nominees are AC Whyte & Co Ltd, J&M Murdoch & Son Ltd and WG Renfrew Ltd.

About Living, F&M Hairdressing and Kevan Scott Goldsmiths Ltd are up for the retailer of the year award, in the 10 or less employees category, while Abientot, Barrhead Travel and Caulders Garden Centre battle it out in the 10 or more employees category.

Most promising new business contenders are Glasgow Fitness Ltd, Tailor Maid Homecare Ltd and The Wee Fudge Company, and Caulders Garden Centre and Uplawmoor Hotel go head-to-head for the tourism award.

J&M Murdoch and Son Ltd are back in contention for the family business award, alongside Teejay Publishers and WG Renfrew.

And last but not least is the home worker award, between Ideeas Ltd, Laura’s Dresses and S.O. Creative.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner hosted by broadcaster Sally Magnusson, taking place June 6 at the Dalmeny Park country house hotel.
