East Renfrewshire women help fund charity surgery

The Northern Cleft Foundation is £1,500 richer, thanks to the efforts of a group of East Renfrewshire women.

Councillor Mary Montague recently presented a cheque to Mark Devlin, volunteer surgeon for the charity, on behalf of Women across the World (Scotland).

She told The Extra: “The multicultural women’s group raised the money through a charity concert which showcased talented young musicians and dancers from local schools.

“Each year WaW support a different charity, aiming to improve the lives of less fortunate women and children, at home and abroad.”

NCF representative Mark added: “I must thank WaW for their fantastic donation which will help transform the lives of people in developing countries with cleft lip and palate deformities who are unable to pay for treatment and are subjected to a life of poor health and poverty.”
