The nine-year-old, who lives in Eastfield and attends Eastfield Primary School, is in the final 100 of the competition, which is run by the LMI Group.

As part of the competition, Caelan, who is an enthusiastic Mini Rugby player at Cumbernauld Rugby Club, is fundraising for the John O’Byrne Foundation which organises events for sick children.

Caelan’s mum, Tracey, said: “We found out about this competition through a friend who said Calean was a good looking kid and should go in for it.

“Just for fun I entered Caelan into the competition and didn’t expect to hear any more of it.

“So we’re obviously thrilled that he’s been shortlisted as he’s had a lot of fun.

“We have no idea where this aptitude for modelling came from, it’s certainly not something anyone else in the family has ever done.”

To help with the fundraising, Caelan has his own Facebook page – Caelans Challenge – where he takes on wacky challenges in return for donations.

He has already completed several challenges put forward by backers, such as housework-related tasks, physical exercise challenges and eating a full packet of crackers without water.

November 13 sees the public voting phase of the competition open and Caelan will of course be hoping lots of people vote for him.
