Eastwood High library bags new books for 2016

The library at Eastwood High is well stocked for 2016, thanks to the efforts of its pupils.

Earlier in the year, S2 pupils raised over £1,400 in a sponsored Readathon — with the money going to charity, to help terminally ill children.

Librarian Anne De’Ath told The Extra: “Apart from this helping the pupils to develop their reading and literacy skills, they also helped those less fortunate then themselves — and finally gained money to be spent on free books for the library.

“A big thank you to all pupils and staff involved.”

And 2016 is set to start with a bang for Eastwood book worms with two visits from author Carmen Reid, speaking to S1 and S2 pupils, planned for the new year, as well as a school group heading to see Marcus Sedgewick at the BBC offices at Glasgow Quay.
