A total of 25 youngsters from S2 took part in BIMA Digital Day — or D-Day for short — created by the British Interactive Media Association to introduce school-age kids to possible careers in digital.

The pupils took part in a series of challenges from designing and creating mobile apps to web development and social media.

S5 and S6 pupils considering studying computing after school also got involved, and digital agency Equator offered a presentation on life in the industry.

It’s the second year running that Eastwood high have taken part — one of 100 schools across the country.

East Renfrewshire council’s convener for education and equalities Elaine Green said: “Well done to Eastwood for getting involved with this major UK-wide project.

“The challenges the pupils have been taking part in link in closely with Curriculum for Excellence in both business studies and computer science.

“Hopefully the young people learned some new skills and also enjoyed the experience — we may now have some digital industry leaders of the future.”
