Eastwood High School pupils on fine voice for charity

Choirs from Eastwood High School, Cross Arthurlie, Gateside and Beith Primary Schools along with Cumnock, Kilmarnock, Garnock and Boclair Academies, Dalziel High School and Hamilton College all performed carols and festive songs to help raise funds for Ayrshire charity Hansel.

Agnes Paton, Hansel’s Fundraising and Communications manager, said: “Christmas is a wonderful time of the year and many people look forward to hearing the traditional Christmas carols being sung.

“We are delighted that Princes Square has supported Hansel’s Christmas Festival of Choirs again this year and allowed us to hold a fundraising can collection at the same time.

“Singing carols at Christmas is a great way to bring families and friends together over the festive season as we’ve seen this week with the mums and dads, grans and grandpas, friends and neighbours who have come along to watch the children perform for Hansel.

“We are so grateful to all the children, teachers and helpers who make this and our other carol singing events such a big success.

“We have been very lucky to be able to send choirs to a wide variety of venues all across Ayrshire over the past two weeks.

“All of our hosts have been so kind and we would like to say a big thanks to them for all their support and to the members of the public who have donated so generously to Hansel.

Every penny that has been dropped into our collection cans goes towards supporting people living with learning difficulties all across Ayrshire.”
