And its first ‘ambassador’ to Holyrood was that staunch champion of the town’s tourist trade, Eleanor McLean.

Already honoured by the Royal Burgh this year by being named Sashing Lady of the new Lord Cornet in the forthcoming Lanimer celebrations, Eleanor, as a member of the Community Council, has been instrumental in drawing up a new Town Guide for visitors.

And she has been busy promoting the Royal Burgh’s virtues in many different ways.

Now she has taken her ‘Come to Lanark’ message to the heart of the capital, manning a display stand in Holyrood entrance hall, promoting all things Lanark.

Her mission to Edinburgh started on Monday of last week and ended on Thursday and both the area’s MSP Aileen Campbell, South Lanarkshire Council member Catherine McClymont and Regional MSP Claudia Beamish made personal visits to give support.
