Electric Glen shines on for sold-out second week

The event launched on Thursday (February 6) and continues again tonight (until Sunday), with all 24,000 tickets snapped up within hours of the first night.
The opening night was attended by minister for environment and climate change, Paul Wheelhouse MSP, who called it “a shining example of a Homecoming event, celebrating one of Scotland’s most stunning parks and its rich economic and cultural heritage”.

Hide AdThis year’s story focuses on the history of the Thornliebank Calico Printworks, home to the Crum family in the 19th century.
The moonlit trail is led with storytelling from the Walking Theatre Company, soundscore from Dan Fox of Sound Intervention, projections by Jamie Wardrop and lighting design by creative director Phil Supple.
And the community has been out in force supporting the second annual festival, with the Rouken Glen Model Steamer Club providing entertainment and print patterns designed by local schoolchildren on display as part of Electric Glen.

“We’re also delighted to involve schoolchildren in the creative process, engaging them in a project which teaches them about the cultural history on their doorstep.
“Electric Glen 2014 is a feast for all the senses and definitely a fantastic way to see Rouken Glen in a new and exciting way after dark.”
