Electric Glen tickets sell out

Electric Glen is East Renfrewshire’s first-ever lighting festival and is set to run from February 14 to 17.

But the 8,400 tickets for the event ran out in a record time time of 10 days.

Further to that, another 1,500 tickets were produced for an additional night on Wednesday, February 13 and they sold out in only four days.

East Renfrewshire council leader, Councillor Tony Buchanan, said: “I am delighted that Electric Glen has been a sell-out success.

“We were confident that a lighting event in Rouken Glen Park was a bright idea and expected an enthusiastic uptake from local residents and visitors, but this has exceeded all expectations.

“As part of the East Renfrewshire — A Place To Grow campaign, a new event strategy was developed to highlight East Renfrewshire as a great pace to visit as well as live, work and to create significant economic benefits for our local retailers and hospitality businesses.

Many restaurants in the area are offering special menus for Electric Glen ticket holders.

Electric Glen’s creative producer, Zoe Bottrell from events company Culture Creative, said: “All of our night time explorers must remember to bring a torch, wrap up warm, wear waterproof jackets and sensible outdoor shoes.

“It’s an after dark, outdoor event and we need to be prepared for all weathers.

“It’s all part of what makes the experience such a unique one.”

Electric Glen is funded by Creative Scotland, East Renfrewshire — A Place To Grow campaign and Heritage Lottery funding.
