Emily Barclay wins Gazette Local Newspaper Week competition

THIS week, the Carluke and Lanark Gazette joins local newspapers across the country in celebrating Local Newspaper Week.

This year’s theme was Your Voice and, rather than us trying to tell you why we are, we decided to ask some of our younger readers what the Gazette means to them.

Lesmahagow High School and Lanark Grammar School were happily able to participate in our essay competition. And the article written by Emily Barclay, an S1 pupil at Lesmahagow High School, was selected as winner.

Emily and her class mates will be given the opportunity to design a full page in a future edition of the paper.
