Employees get on their bikes for a good cause

Around 60 staff members from the Scottish and Southern Energy offices in Cumbermauld are getting on their bikes to raise vital funds for charity.

The employees are planning to cycle 81 miles from the company's office in Perth to their call-centre at Hunt Hill in aid of the St Andrew's Hospice.

The fundraisers have been training hard for the gruelling journey, which will be completed as a relay on August 22.

Worker Brendan Carr (23) explained: "We've been in the gym every morning from half past seven.

Brendan's colleague, Remo Baldassarra (25), said: "SSE is very big on getting out into the community.

"We thought this was a good project and since then it has just grown arms and legs.

"Our original goal was to raise 10,000. Hopefully, with everyone getting involved, we should reach that."

You can sponsor Brendan, Remo or any of the other SSE workers taking part in the bike challenge by visiting www.justgiving.com and searching for them by name.
