Employers help with hearing loss

Action on Hearing Loss Scotland is urging employers in Cumbernauld and Kilsyth to improve their access for job applicants and their support for staff with hearing loss by ordering the charity’s new, free information pack.

The charity’s On the Move transitions project has launched ‘Sound Advice’.

This provides employers with best practice guidance on how to ensure recruitment processes are accessible for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

It also shows how to make the ‘reasonable adjustments’ that are required by the Equality Act 2010 for employees with hearing loss.

Delia Henry, director of Action on Hearing Loss Scotland, said: “It is vital that employers can access information to help meet their legal responsibilities to ensure people with hearing loss are fully supported to gain work opportunities, stay in employment and fulfil career potential.”
