Enjoy some music From Russia With Love - in Bearsden

Music lovers will enjoy a concert of Russian music for choir at Bearsden Baptist Church on Thursday, June 2.

Rachmaninoff, his musical influences and composers inspired by his work will be performed by Russkaya Cappella, a Glasgow-based chamber choir directed by Svetlana Zvereva and Stuart Campbell.

Rachmaninoff’s music for piano is well known, but he also holds a significant place in the tradition of Russian church music and folklore.

This programme has been devised to show him in that light, demonstrating in particular sacred and folk music.

Besides Rachmaninoff the performance includes works by much-loved composers such as Borodin and Tchaikovsky, as well as inspiring pieces by Kastalsky and Sviridov.

Founded in 2009, Russkaya Cappella is a multicultural and multilingual choir which brings singers together in order to promote Russian choral music to a wider audience. This is their first appearance in Bearsden.

The concert begins at 7.30pm.

Admission costs £10 / £8 concessions, and children are admitted free with an adult.
