Access road to Mugdock reservoir to close

As part of Scottish Water’s ongoing £250,000 investment project to improve the maintenance and heritage conservation of the Milngavie Reservoirs site, the private access road off of Mugdock Road, Milngavie is to close from Monday 9 November, 2020.

This temporary closure is expected to last for around five days and will enable repairs to a manhole, as well as improvements to the road’s surface.

The private access road leads to Commissioner’s Cottage and a small number of designated parking bays which, under normal circumstances, are only available for blue badge holders and Scottish Water personnel.

In order for the work to be carried out safely, no vehicle, cycle or pedestrian access will be allowed while the works are under way.

However, emergency vehicle access will be permitted at all times.

Advance signage will be in place to notify the public of the closure. Visitors are urged to use alternative access routes around the reservoirs.

Vegetation clearance will also begin at Craigmaddie Reservoir from Monday 9 November and will progress to Mugdock Reservoir once complete.

An environmental impact assessment has been carried out prior to starting the clearance work to ensure no adverse impact on protected species or the spread of invasive plants.

This work is scheduled for completion late December.

Scottish Water apologises for any inconvenience these essential works might cause and thanks everyone for their patience and understanding.
