Jane and Jim Goodall were spotted painting the carved characters on one of the park benches in the part at the Mains Estate.

Resident Josephine McNeill said: “I live opposite the park in the Mains estate and when I opened my blinds this morning I was delighted to see Jean and Jim painting the carved characters on the park bench and bringing them back to life.

“I recognised Jean as she used to do the scenery for
the Christmas show at
Craigdhu Primary School in Milngavie.

“I popped over to the park but kept a two metre distance and asked if they would mind me taking a photo as I thought it would be nice to put it on social media and to send it to the paper.”

Josephine also praised the work of her neighbour’s daughters who created a
special ladybird trail – until thieves struck.

She said: “Erin and Freya created a ladybird trail with stones they had painted and set it out on a grass verge near to their home.

“Sadly someone stole the little characters and deprived others of enjoying them.”

But she added: “However, undeterred the girls next door have painted more stones and set them out for others to
enjoy when they are out for their exercise.

“Well done to all I have mentioned and to everyone else who is doing what they can to improve life for others at the moment.”
