Hazard detected in laboratory on Cumbernauld campus

Education bosses have confirmed that the laboratory at Our Lady’s High School had to close last week amidst safety fears when a “small number” of pupils and staff complained of headaches after paintwork was done.

A spokesperson said: “The council sealed off the area and put in appropriate measures to dissipate any fumes including dehumidifiers and increased ventilation. Immediate measures taken appear to have treated the area. Air quality samples taken have been analysed independently and show that they are now within the required acceptable levels and the access to the stairwell and the wider teaching space was reopened on Friday.”
