Plans for high rise dumping ground attracts objections

A controversial plan to see a rural part of Cumbernauld transformed into a mammoth dumping ground for 12 landmark high rises has moved to the next stage.

The date for submissions has now elapsed.

And the News and Chronicle can reveal that the project to utilise a site at Staylee Farm in Hulks Road has sparked a total of 18 objections from irate locals.

Objectors include Greengairs Community Council and local councillor Alan Beveridge.

Objectors claim the site is not suitable for the rubble as it is technically greenbelt and is home to bats.

However, no date has yet been set for the planning hearing at North Lanarkshire Council.
