Scotland’s animal welfare charity was alerted to the kitten after a surprised mechanic found it whilst fixing a puncture, on Monday.

The car belonged to a member of the public who lives near the garage.

The kitten had no injuries and is now in the care of the Scottish SCPA’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer, Amy Stirton, said: “We safely removed the kitten from the car wheel arch.

“We’re not sure how it came to be there, but the owner of the car lives around 500 yards from the Kwik-Fit garage, so it is most likely from the Pollokshaws area.

“The poor thing is only around 12 weeks old.

“It is black with a white patch on its chest, and has no microchip.

“We are keen to trace the owner as soon as possible. If anyone recognises this animal, please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
