Gordon Robertson who lives in Roadside was going out to his shed last Wednesday morning (September 19) when a large branch was ripped from a tree and narrowly missed him.
He said: “The tree must be about 50 years old, but appears to be in good health, it was just the sheer power of the wind that ripped the branch from the trunk.

“I had just popped out to put stuff in the shed when it came crashing down, I’d estimate it must have come down from about 40 feet in the air which could have meant a serious injury had it hit me.
“Thankfully, there was no damage done, but I contacted North Lanarkshire Council to request it be removed as I’m concerned about what could happen the next time we have a storm,”
North Lanarkshire Council had plenty of problems to deal with as the wind uprooted trees, knocked down walls and overturned lorries.
Even Motherwell Civic Centre itself wasn’t spared as staff looked on while uprooted trees and downed branches caused minor damage to some of their cars.
