Equal Scotland on menu at cafe

Oxfam Scotland held a 'Candidate Cafe' at Motherwell's GLO Centre in partnership with Stop Climate Chaos Scotland.

Candidates from the five parties currently represented in the Scottish Parliament took part in the event.

They were: Central Scotland list MSP Clare Adamson (SNP), Gary Dunion (Greens), Meghan Gallacher (Conservative), Paul McGarry (Liberal Democrat) and Motherwell and Wishaw MSP John Pentland (Labour).

Those parties not represented were offered the chance to provide resources to be made available and a full list of candidates known to be standing in the region was also made available at the event.

Lisa Stewart, Oxfam Scotland’s campaigns and communications manager, said: “We’re holding these events across Scotland ahead of the election in May to give people the chance to discuss poverty, inequality and other issues with candidates from the five parties currently represented in the Scottish Parliament in an informal setting.

“We were delighted with our how our Candidate Cafe in Motherwell went. There was a lively atmosphere and high quality discussions.

“Those who came along were able to have their say and also to find out more about Oxfam’s vision for a more equal Scotland in a more equal world.”
