ER library users asked to switch to email alerts

Changes loom for East Renfrewshire library users.

From now on, libraries will be sending reservation and overdue item information by email, rather than by post.

Customers are being encouraged to provide their library with an email address, in a move which East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure says will “improve the quality and frequency with which notifications are sent to customers. It also means libraries can reduce costs and invest savings elsewhere.”

Those who do not have an email address will be provided with help on library computers to set one up, and letters will continue to those without an email address until the end of the year.

The change will also affect young library users, as parents will be asked to link their child’s card to their own, or provide an email address for the child’s record.
