Event to bring residents up to speed on village’s hub

Work is underway on the £5.29m Hub - set to open early next year - which will bring East Dunbartonshire Council, library, leisure and cultural services under one roof.

There will also be healthcare services available at the new community facility - including GP surgeries - in conjunction with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

An afternoon drop-in awareness session, between 3pm-4.30pm, and an evening event from 6pm-7.30pm have been organised at Campsie Memorial Hall on Wednesday, October 28.

They have been designed to give residents the chance to discover what services they can expect when the Hub opens.

Council officers from the Community Protection, Trading Standards andEnvironmental Health teams will be on hand with information about the services they offer in Lennoxtown.

Representatives from EDLC Trust will be available to provide information on current services. Some taster sessions of what could be provided from the new facility will also be on offer including activities for children andfamilies, a Tablets Tips for Beginners session, 3D printing and a Relaxing Reads session.

A number of healthcare services will be represented at the event, as well as the Lennoxtown Community Police Officer and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Council leader Rhondda Geekie said: “I would urge anyone who wants to know more about the services and facilities which will be provided within the Hub to go along to one of the drop-in sessions on 28 October.

“Bringing together a wide range of Council services under one roof in an exciting and innovative way will help us deliver services more efficiently to our residents and improve their experience of dealing with the council.”
