Excellent results for Giffnock nursery

THE nursery class at Giffnock Primary has been given top marks in a recent Care Inspectorate visit.

The class — made up of 60 pupils split between morning and afternoon sessions — was given seven excellent grades out of eight (and a very good for the eighth) following a surprise inspection.

The report states that children and parents were happy with the provision of education, and that staff continue to provide a caring, nurturing environment for the children to develop and learn in.

Councillor Paul O’Kane, vice convener for education and equalities, commented: “Very well done to Giffnock nursery class on such a fantastic report.

“To get seven excellents out of eight is absolutely exceptional and it is testament to the wonderful teaching and learning that is happening in the nursery.

“I’d like to offer everyone involved — the head teacher, nursery staff and, of course, the children — huge congratulations on this tremendous achievement.”

Head teacher Pauline Ferguson added: “We are delighted with the extremely positive report.

“It endorses the hard work, commitment and support from both staff and parents.”
