Family of missing man are hopeful for his return

The family of missing man Gordon Wilson have put up his decorations in the hope that he will be back in time for Christmas.

The former Shawlands Academy head teacher (82) went missing in October.

Now living in Essex, it was thought that Mr Wilson — who suffers from dementia — might return to Glasgow.

His daughter, Lesley Rankin, called the Christmas tree at her father’s house in Leaden Roding a “sign of hope”.

She and sister Gillian Wilson remain hopeful that Mr Wilson will soon be found — as do wellwishers on The Extra’s Facebook page, many of whom remembered the teacher from Shawlands Academy and shared the missing person appeal.

He was last spotted in Essex, near the village of Sible Hedingham, where he and his late wife Sybil used to go walking.
