Feathered family set-up home in iconic flats

The pair of peregrine falcons became surprise tenants of the multi-storey flats, in North Glasgow, after nesting on the 24th floor of the 27-storey building at 10-30 Petershill Court.

The empty building is due to be demolished by Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) as part of the ongoing regeneration of the city.

Local resident Steven McGrath first spotted the birds, which are relatively new additions to Scotland’s cities, late last year.

The parent birds went on to lay two eggs and great care was taken to safeguard the nest site.

Despite one egg failing at an early stage, the pair successfully raised a single chick.

The birds have now left the nest, but are believed to still be in the area.
