THE fight is on to stop Biggar’s public toilets going ‘down the pan’, with local MP David Mundell urging that they be saved.

As reported in the Gazette, public toilets throughout the region face closure through an overall economy drive by South Lanarkshire Council aimed at saving £20 million in this financial year.

But Mr Mundell said: “Everyone understands that the council has to cut costs and that other public toilets have been closed, but I believe that the situation in Biggar is unique.”
